Thanks!!

and I love how you phonetically have your name- awesome!

I feel like I should have that going on for my last name, no one seems to pronounce it right! :0P

You exactly hit the nail right on the head, Laura!

"You-wee" is the result of the wrong/defective pronunciation of my first name Uwe - mostly by Americans, British or Australian guys (English native speakers) who have no idea about pronunciation of German language and therefore of German names.

So first it was a joke to introduce myself as "You-wee Because" to mother-tongue speakers of the English language. "Because" the translation of my last name "Weil" is "because"... ;-)

So imagine the completly astonished faces/look of US guys or Brits when I introduce myself by the name "you-wee because..." ;-))
Germans - even if they are pretty good in English - normally do not understand what the translation means...
...do you speak any German, Laura?

Enjoy your day!

CU,
Uwe - or you-wee.
Whatever you prefer more...

This will be sure to make you laugh!

Nope- I don't speak German except for one catch phrase that my dad taught me. I have no idea why...

Ich habe keine Bratpfanne- "I have no frying pan" (ok, I totally had to look up the spelling!)

But it always gets a laugh when I say it! :0)

"Ich habe keine Bratpfanne" is totally correct German spelling, Laura. ;-)

And really funny! Whenever you will get the chance to ask your father where he snapped this curious German phrase, please tell me! ;-)

http://www.dict.cc is my favourite [Br.] / favorite [Am.] German-English online dictionary where you even can listen to the pronunciation of German (and of course English) words/phrases.

I'm one of the "active users" who participates in this world-spanning project to create the best / most complete
German-English dictionary worldwide.

And it helps me a lot to improve my English, too, because I'm still far away from being perfect in your language and very often I have to look up for the right expression.
That's one of the reasons I decided to write my blog in English. To force myself to improve my English - and to be able to comunicate with (more or less) the whole world via my internet diary.

Take care, Uwe.
